PS3 - DLC Not Working? Can't Find your purchased DLC? - Possible Solutions

[ Edited ]

This post was compiled long before the creation of the new LittleBigPlanet website FAQ [LINK] on the 17th of November 2009.

None the less, I will continue to leave this thread open for discussion.

Below are the possible reasons as to why your DLC may not be working/you can't find it.

You do not have the latest patch for the game installed...

Yes the patches to the game can be near impossible to miss, unless you have internet problems or the PSN is down. But unless you have the latest patch installed, you will be unable to use any of the more recent DLC you have purchased.

You have not installed it from the XMB...

This only applies if you do not use the in-game store (LittleBigStore), as when using the LittleBigStore your purchases are automatically installed.

So if you use the external PSN Store to purchase your DLC, the resulting file can be found under the GAME area of the XMB. Press X on the DLC to install it.

NOTE: This will only apply to the DLC if you choose to download it in the background.

"I can't find my DLC level packs/creator pack items in my popit"...

This applies to all DLC, however most of the time this is asked when referring to the levels packs and creator packs.

All DLC is found in the LittleBigStore. This also applies to when you want to unlock goodies from the Creator Packs and play levels from the Premium Level Kits, such as the Metal Gear Solid Kit and the Pirates of the Caribbean Kit.

Please also remember that the content on the LittleBigStore is now spread out over several pages, so be sure to check out the other pages too.

If you have forgotten how to switch between pages it's the R1 & L1 buttons.

You have a LBP game disc that is from a different region than your PSN store you have purchased from...

This has been the most common reason as to why DLC may not be working. As DLC is region locked, you MUST purchase DLC from the same region as your disc.

"But how do I tell what region my disc is?" I hear you ask. It's fairly simple.

On the disc (usually located under the PS logo) there will be a 'GAME ID' in the form of four letters and five numbers like so [BCES-00141]. Those tell you what region that game is from. The numbers do not matter in this case, all we need are the first four letters.

So below are the first four letters for the LBP discs and what region those letters belong to. That region is also the store region you must purchase from in order for the DLC to work properly.

There are FIVE MAJOR PSN Store regions.

BCES - EUROPEAN Store/Region

BCUS - AMERICAN Store/Region

BCJS - JAPANESE Store/Region

BCAS - ASIAN Store/Region

BCOS - OCEANA Store/Region

I also hear you ask; "How do I change the store region I am buying from?"

Well there is really only one solution for this.

That option would be to create an account just for purchasing LBP DLC with the appropriate address details for the region of your disc and only use this account to purchase your DLC for LBP. Which then, you can then sign in to you other account and continue to play LBP as normal.

  • TEST: As a test you can always download the free Creator Pack 1 from the store to see if that will work first. It will possibly save you losing money by buying a pack from the store when you aren't 100% sure.
Or, you could simply buy the correct disc that matches the region of your account.

If you are still having problems...

Yes this can happen, but if you are sure that you are purchasing from the correct store and installing the DLC properly and you are still having problems, this may be down to your DLC game data being corrupted. One possible solution would be to delete the DLC game data file and re-download the DLC.

Under GAME DATA UTILITY in the GAME area of your XMB you should find files that correspond to LBP. One will be clearly named as Downloadable Content. Delete the Downloadable Content file and then go back to the PSN/In-Game Store and re-download all of your LBP DLC.

As an extreme last resort, delete both the downloadable content file and the data file for LBP from the SAVE DATA UTILITY FOLDER and then try restoring everything that way. Install LBP and all updates first before re-downloading the DLC.

  • DO NOT DELETE YOUR PROFILE SAVE FILE, DISTINGUISHABLE BY IT HAVING YOUR OWN PERSONALISED SACKBOY AS THE ICON.

Thanks everyone. TBH I made the thread so that if anyone does ask then you can just point them to this thread rather than try to explain how it may not be working.

Re: DLC Not Working? Can't Find your purchased DLC? - Possible Solutions

Great thread mnimmo1986!

I've been having a problem where DLC I installed isn't showing up in-game, but unfortunately none of the above reasons are why.

I recently got my PS3 back from Console Doctor and was able to successfully install Fat Princess and the Call of Juarez demo. The DLC I'm missing (not on the pop-it or either page of the LittleBigStore) is:

  • Ghostbusters pack
  • InFAMOUS costumes
  • History pack

I've never had any bother before, can anyone help?

It could be corrupt data, but I'm can't connect to the PSN right now so can't download them again.

Have you tried deleting the DLC data as well (at end of OP)? Then Restore is from the Store downloading it again when you can.
