The Bunkers Wheel On Steroids (Easy)

AUTHOR: rickelchilango [Hearted]

DIFFICULTY: [Extreme]

POSITIVES: Well for what it is designed for it is done extremely well. Nice dark design with the neon 'VR' material looks cool.

NEGATIVES: Far too hard j/k. Well the main one that stuck out for me was that the jumping area (height) that you allowed did seem a bit small and tight. Also at the times you use the paintinator, the target does, at times, disappear off screen and you can be left hoping that you are aiming correctly, and before long, zap!

NITPICKS: Well for me, after I tried many times to complete this level I did find that mead head was spinning for a while afterwards. Unfortunate side effect of staring at a spinning spiral for ages :smileyvery-happy:

SUGGESTIONS:

  • TWEAK DIFFICULTY - Consider making this one easier and different from the hard mode. Remove or change some electric areas.
  • HEAD ROOM - While probably impractical to change, a little bit more room to jump wouldn't go a miss.
  • CAMERA ZONE - Consider some camera zones so that the player is able to see the important parts of the level. (Paintinator doors).
  • EXTRA CHECKPOINT - This would only apply to the easy mode, but consider adding another checkpoint halfway through. After all this is meant to be the 'easier' of the two levels.

NOTES: If you like the bunker level or are just after an extreme challenge, then this is the level for you. Even though it is labeled as easy, trust me, it's far from it.

OVERALL RATING: | [Hearted]

EDIT: Some changes made to level since review. Notably extra checkpoints.

The Bunkers Wheel On Steroids (Hard)

NOTES: Exactly the same as easy mode, however you only get one chance to finish the level as the entrance checkpoint moves to the finish as you begin.

Re: The LittleBIGReview Group [Reviews Only]

COLOSSAL

AUTHOR: Studentske

DIFFICULTY: [Medium]

POSITIVES: The beginning was excellent, with the numerous arches and glass between them.  It must have been difficult to get that just right and perfect.  The level didn't start out too quickly, which is a good thing.  When levels put you into a hard situation right off the bat, it's disconcerting and it lowers your first impression of the level.  The decoration was adequate and the enemies were well built, even if there was only one type.

NEGATIVES: The instructions were extremely bad.  The cutscene camera for showing players where to go is useful, but you didn't use it correctly.  It was used from too far away; consider placing the camera closer to the objective.  There was a noticeable lack of polish throughout the level.  There were a lot of things that could and can still be touched up.  The level's ending was strange and puzzling; what happened to the invaders?  Did you beat them all?  Did they beat you?  What happened in the cave?  It all ended pretty abruptly.

NITPICKS: There were a lot of instance where dark matter was visible.

SUGGESTIONS:

-Improve the level of polish on your level.  Give nice little visual details.  Make everything smooth and make it flow well, too.

-Improve decoration.  While adequate, adequate can be improved.

-Make the instructions a whole lot better.

THE WEAPONSMITH PART 1

AUTHOR: d-big-fella

DIFFICULTY: [Easy]

POSITIVES: Some of the areas were remarkably well done.  The waterfall at the very beginning was well done.  What sticker did you use for those little waves?  The part where you had to jump across the boats was pretty good as well.  The level was well constructed, nothing broke.  You'd be surprised (or maybe you wouldn't) how many levels can break within just a few sections.  There were pockets of good decoration.

NEGATIVES: However, the decoration wasn't all that good.  Some places it was bare, notably the rolling green hills area with the boats.  Some areas just didn't seem like they got as much attention as others.  They were in desperate need of a little visual spice.  The gameplay was repetitive and nothing nobody's ever seen before.

NITPICKS: The part where you must grab onto the bucket to go up, it's very difficult to get onto the top of the next platform.  Extremely difficult, in fact.  Change it to a sensor switch, I think.

SUGGESTIONS:

-Add more visual embellishment.  Give players some eye candy.

-Vary the gameplay a little more.  A lot was just running along and then hopping up a few series of blocks.

-Polish the level more, gameplay-wise and visual-wise.  Nothing broke, but that doesn't mean you can't add more to your level.

BRIDGE TO NOWHERE

AUTHOR: ARog34

DIFFICULTY: [Medium] to [Hard]

POSITIVES: I liked the level, it was enjoyable and fun.  Interesting concept, having to knock down bridges and get past different varieties.  I especially liked the touch of covering up buttons hooked up to explosives with loads of point bubbles.  The first time I was wondering what happened when I exploded into little charred shreds, and then I saw the telltale button.  The level was well constructed and had a nice variety of obstacles.

NEGATIVES: There was no decoration AT ALL.  That is a big turnoff for me on a level.  Give the players some eye candy, something nice to look at.  Instead I was treated to a whole heap of dark matter and blank, blue, boring background.  You can do better than that. The level of polish was minimal at best, another big turnoff.

NITPICKS: The first bridge you have to knock over is extremely difficult if you're playing only by yourself.

SUGGESTIONS:

-Throw in decorations.  There's absolutely no way the thermometer is all the way filled up.

-Cover up the dark matter.  That is a big no-no.  Dark matter is less of a material and more of a useful tool.  Never use it out in the open.

-Polish, polish, polish.  It all traces back to the lack of nice visuals.

FACTORY RACE

AUTHOR: Pesterenan

DIFFICULTY: [Easy]

POSITIVES: This was a fun level, plain and simple.  I enjoyed the variety of obstacles and gameplay that you had.  Everything was well built and constructed; nothing fell apart, which is a surprisingly big plus.  The materials you used made it look and feel like a factory.  The inclusion of vehicles springs to mind because they were implemented and used so well.  The ride to the end of the level was very well built, almost surprisingly good.  I'm not trying to be mean there or anything.

NEGATIVES: There wasn't enough decoration.  Sure, it was adequate, but you can do a lot better than adequate.  Increase the length.  There's absolutely no way the thermometer is already all the way filled up from that.  If it really is, cut down on the variety of materials.  Another option is to make a sequel, but it would be better to make it longer.  Also, polish, polish, polish.  There weren't a lot of visual details and enhancements and there were some rough edges here and there.

NITPICKS: The elevator at the beginning should have a three plane door.

SUGGESTIONS:

-Improve the level of decoration.  It doesn't necessarily have to be stickers either, materials in interesting shapes can work just fine.

-Increase the length of the level.

-Polish, polish, and polish some more.

DANGEROUS DELIVERY

AUTHOR: Pesterenan

DIFFICULTY: [Medium]

POSITIVES: The concept of having a train and having to deliver an explosive past different obstacles, to me, was original and creative.  The level was very fun and well built, and was kind of reminiscent of the Canyons levels made by Media Molecule themselves.  Aside from the beginning (see below), the level looked genuinely like a cave or mine.  The choice of materials was very good.  (I'd like to know what the orangeish, wood-like material you used is called).  The train was nice, if a bit cramped in the front engine.  I'd also like to know how you detached the last car; that was a very good part.

NEGATIVES: Simply put, there's not a whole lot of decoration here, something apparent in your other level as well.  Give players something nice to look at and I'm sure you'll get to a 4-star rating in no time.  The beginning was extremely sparse with a strange bit of rock material found, I think nowhere else in the level.  Add more to the beginning.  The level was too short, as well.

NITPICKS: You probably shouldn't have so many buttons to operate one elevator.

SUGGESTION:

-Put in some visual spice.  Give players something cool to look at while they're completing the tasks.

-Make the level longer.  I know you're making a sequel, so I won't suggest it.

-Improve the beginning greatly.

-The ride to the end of the level in the mine cart would have served well with the explosive actually exploding when you reached the scoreboard.

NOTES: None

OVERALL RATING: 4/5 stars; [not hearted or author-hearted]

EDIT: This is now in response to a request to review the levels again.  I didn't review Dangerous Delivery 2 before, but I'll add some comments about it now.  Basically it was the first in a different setting.  That's not a bad thing at all, really, because the first was quite good.  You made a comment in your request about letting you know if they look good or not, and now they do.  Little subtle changes have now made your levels stand out (even more than before) from the rest of the pack.  I'm not sure what else I can say in this.  It's still the same gameplay with perhaps minor tweaks, but now they definitely look better.

Re: The LittleBIGReview Group [Reviews Only]

LBPGolfNA - Driving Range

AUTHOR: Zzbober

DIFFICULTY: [Easy]

POSITIVES: The custom icon is very eye catching and colourful. Nice to see various themes in this golf level other than the standard green grass and bunkers.

NEGATIVES: The instructions at the beginning of the level were a bit difficult to get as the switch needed to activate them can get stuck in the holes, hence needing a 'nudge' to get the key in the hole. The song choices are a nice touch to some levels, as long as they are not over done and set out nicely and out of the way.

NITPICKS: Compared to some golf levels this one was rather stale. Basically no matter how high or low the power bar was, every hit of the ball ended up at the end of the level. So as a player I never got the sense of beating my previous shot. Also I only ever achieved 10 points worth of score bubble and no more.

SUGGESTIONS:

  • INSTRUCTIONS - At the beginning just slightly widen the areas for the key to drop into, so that it fits in and out without a struggle.
  • SONG CHOICES - Place these options out of the way as personally for me (in the way that it's set out), it's an eyesore.
  • MORE CHALLENGING - Most driving ranges have an uphill section that you whack the ball up, which is more challenging than the flat section in this level. Consider adding that as unless you have some sort of obstacles in the way the ball will always reach the end.
  • POINT BUBBLES - I'm not sure how you implemented the point bubble scoring system, but to me it seemed a tad flawed compared to some. I do think this area need attention, as when I went to play it the first time there were no players with any points, hence why I was #1 with only 10 points.

NOTES: Nice effort here but there are areas where you could improve. I also notice that in the description you have that this level was close to overheating. Personally, it looked nowhere close to that, unless the mechanics behind this contraption are mind boggling.

Re: The LittleBIGReview Group [Reviews Only]

Shrine Of Light

AUTHOR: AngelGozen

DIFFICULTY: [Easy]

POSITIVES: Overall you have made a decent effort with this level, although there are areas that need to be looked at.

NEGATIVES: The use of the VR material and stone did not match at all and clashed very badly. There was an overall lack of challenges in this level.

NITPICKS: While some pistons add to the feel of the level, most pistons on this level were there just to hold platforms in place and spoil the look.

SUGGESTIONS:

  • PISTONS - There is an option which will allow you to make these invisible. It will make the overall look a bit better.
  • CHALLENGES - At the areas where you look for the 'lights', consider making it more of a maze rather than just a single path.
  • VR CLASH - Consider changing the VR material with that of the stone material like the rest of the level. Also add lights to the route to replace the light given off by the VR material.

NOTES: You will need a 'neon' outfit for the majority of this level.

ZELDA COLLAB: OoT Lvl. 1 INTRO

AUTHOR: Ollboy66

DIFFICULTY: [Simple]

POSITIVES: There's really not a whole lot I can say on either side, it was so short.  The decoration was top notch as well as the structure.  It was pretty much perfect; the lighting was suitable, the backgrounds were well done, the narration with the black mirrored the real game's introduction, and it was all very well built.  It just looked professionally done.  Again, I can't say a whole lot for good or bad because it was so extremely short.

NEGATIVES: There really were none, except that it was so short.  Perhaps at the bottom of the tree and the scoreboard could have been beautified and decorated a bit more than they were.  The ground was just plain green grass sponge, which was kind of boring.  However, this is just a very small blemish.

NITPICKS: You should probably use visible walls for the lowering platform you start out on instead of invisble dark matter or rubber.

SUGGESTIONS:

-Again, I don't have a whole lot to say.  Just keep working within your group to make more levels, please.

The Forbidden Castle

Previously named: A Knight In A Castle

AUTHOR: Zelisius [Hearted]

DIFFICULTY: [Medium]

POSITIVES:

Even before starting this level, I got a very good first impression from the uploaded images. Before the various additions & updates that are now included, this was already a very good level. The scenery and decoration were spot on, loved the addition of lighting effects. The choice of music could not be better, and all sound effects were well placed. The boss, while tricky, was well constructed. I also enjoyed the extra traps, and how you have brought the level 'alive' with the addition of ghosts :smileyvery-happy:.

NEGATIVES:

The traps you activate after unlocking the dungeon can get annoying at times as they do appear quite quickly. Although this could be considered a personal nitpick, and am still glad that defeating the boss disable these traps.

NITPICKS:

Just a small nitpick here, and that is there are visible switches in the bedroom which could be hidden away. I let you off with the switch at the end as it adds (just slightly) to the task in hand.

SUGGESTIONS:

  • SCOREBOARD – While you have decorated it, I think it would look better if the base was made of the same stone material as the level, just so that it blends in.

NOTES:

Overall, an excellent, atmospheric level. Well worth a play. There are various ‘surprises’ but left these out of the review as this would spoil the enjoyment of the level.
