THE FORGOTTEN CITY OF ATLANTIS 3

AUTHOR: anidais

DIFFICULTY: [Hard]

POSITIVES: The decoration and attention to detail was excellent yet again.  I liked the added touch of bubbles, even though I could tell they were sponge.  The bubbles made it feel even more underwater-y, and combined with the random water sound effects it really immersed you in the environment. I was surprised you could fit two bosses into your level, nice job.

NEGATIVES: I didn't understand what all the chains around were for.  Some music boxes were showing.

NITPICKS: The checkpoint before the final boss should probably be double.

SUGGESTIONS: Other than what was already said above, I don't really have any for you.  This was a great level.

OVERALL RATING: 5/5 stars; hearted

NOTES: Play it.

SACKBOY VISITS AREA 51

AUTHOR: anidais

DIFFICULTY: [Medium]

POSITIVES: The lighting effects were pretty nice, as was the gusts of wind in the desert at the beginning.  It was a level I enjoyed for the most part, but there were a lot of bad things about it, unfortunately.

NEGATIVES: The gameplay quickly grew stale.  You just kept hopping over spots of electricity and up the stacks of yellow taxi-metal boxes to get points.  There really wasn't a semblance of a story.  The design became repetitive.

NITPICKS: The switches were showing, make them invisible unless you're doing a tutorial.  Mm only showed them to us to inspire us.

SUGGESTIONS: Vary the gameplay a little.  Have the player smash open an alien tank and amass an extraterrestrial army, something other than flashing lights and electricity.  Generally use of Mm objects puts me off a level.  Create your own.

OVERALL RATING: 3/5 stars

NOTES: You have things to improve on.

Sackboy223

-Big Thunder Mountain (Roller Coaster)

Difficulty: Easy

The Good: Very enjoyable, intuitive, and well designed. The level feels very authentic and really puts you in a western setting. The actual roller coaster is also very well made and enjoyable. You can honestly tell that he put a whole lot of effort into this level, and it definitely shows.

The Bad: Not much, just a few small annoyances that can't really be helped, and don't really detract from the experience.

Suggestions: SEQUEL!

BITTER WAR: Parts 1-3

AUTHOR: gocubsgo2

DIFFICULTY: Medium

POSITIVES: Part 1 & 2: Use of color and custom designs. Background machinery shows nice attention to detail. Part 3: Looks more like a warzone. All episodes have great narration, shows that you took the time to unfold a story. Having the option for an A.I. buddy to help is cool in theory but.... (see below)

NEGATIVES: Although I mentioned the colorfulness as a positive, it also can be a little distracting. Feels out of place considering the title: "Bitter War". Part 2's first set of enemies were very frustrating. The plasmas are set too fast, especially considering it's the beginning of the level. Buddy system not very helpful.

NITPICKS: There are some layer issues here and there. (Where sackboy automatically switches layers, when you don't want him too.)

SUGGESTIONS:

My "buddy" nearly killed me when he kept shooting me under the lowering elevator.

One of the areas with a layering problem. I kept getting forced into unwanted layers.

The convoy stayed stuck like this, forcing me to restart the level.

These enemies are frustrating. The "hitzone" is too small, takes several hits, resulting in a lot of time to destroy them.

-Back To School

Difficulty: Easy

The Good: It's original, from the beginning you can definitely tell. I liked how you basically had to use all sorts of types of transportation to get to school, and your dad's excuse for not taking you :smileytongue:. The design of the house in nice and has a unique and somewhat refreshing feel about it.

The Bad: The quality seemed to get slightly worse as the level went on, I loved the beginning where you wake up in your room, but after a while, it just seemed to get worse. There were a ton of holes on the level,I fell off/out of the level, I think at least three or four times, especially around the subway area, this is slightly my fault though, since I tend to want to "explore" a bit more than necessary at times. The design also seemed bland and repetitive at times, yet still not "bad".

Suggestions: Fix the holes in the level:

(to the left)

(to the left, There was also one more to the left of the fisherman)

Ending Notes:

I liked this guy

The park was pretty cool, but please fix the trees!

I loved the bus, trees, whale and house

Overall: 3/5 Not hearted

BACK TO SCHOOL

AUTHOR: elas12

DIFFICULTY: [Easy]

POSITIVES: I liked the dad's excuse for not taking his son to school: "I'm cooking my fish, leave me alone!"  There was an okay variation of transportation.  The decoration started out pretty good at the beginning but it seemed to taper off towards the end.  Gameplay was merely adequate, serving its purpose but nothing special.  The concept was adequate as well.

NEGATIVES: The level of polish and detail declined as you went through the level.  It wasn't very long at all.  Decoration became scarcer and scarcer.  The gameplay wasn't as good as it could be; most of the level was riding on some vehicle.

NITPICKS: There were some holes in the construction; fix those.  There's one behind the stairs at the train station.

SUGGESTIONS: Fix the holes in the floor.  Put more polish into your level; little things like thin-layer backgrounds that do nothing for the gameplay will make a player like the level more.  Visual things that are creative or charming or just interesting can enhance the level like nothing else.  Better gameplay--more than just riding on vehicles--is needed.

OVERALL RATING: 2/5 stars

NOTES: You need to work on it.

ARBORTOP, SEAT OF THE TOTEMS

AUTHOR: DarqThornZ

DIFFICULTY:[Medium]

POSITIVES: The level was well laid out and the design was pretty good as well.  Nice use of the different layers for the branches.  The enemies were varied enough that they didn't become immediately boring.  The decoration was surprisingly consistent throughout, very good I'd say.  I say surprisingly because a lot of creators don't take the time to make the visuals and decoration pop out.

NEGATIVES: Sometimes it was simply too dark to see.  The taller enemies with two brains were very difficult to get over or around.

NITPICKS: Sometimes you used invisible dark matter.  Usually I like to stay away from that.

SUGGESTIONS: Gameplay could be a little more compelling.  A lot of the level was jumping up branches, and while I'm glad that you used the layers correctly and effectively, it all began to look the same after a while.  I'm not sure if the one-brain enemies were supposed to move, because they didn't.

OVERALL RATING: 4/5 stars

Caverndeep

AUTHOR: DarkThornZ

DIFFICULTY: [Hard]

POSITIVES: Decorations and scenery were excellent. Loved the dark feel you gave the level. Also the string as the spiders web was a nice touch.

NEGATIVES: Extremely difficult boss, can be a turn off for most players. I had to restart the level a few times, whereas a regular player may only try once or twice and then give up.

NITPICKS: After the small spider boss there was a bloke in a web you have to save, his text was moderated.

OVERALL RATING: | [Not Hearted]

SUGGESTIONS: Fix the moderated text as I'm sure he is saying something helpful. Also look into lowering the difficulty at the big boss.

NOTES: Not much to put in this reviews as there was hardly anything to pick up on other than what has been said. However don't let this put you off from making more. Don't' forget that this review is only my take on the level, not everyone else's. Even though I rated this level high, for me it does not have much replay value which is why I did not heart it.

Back To School

AUTHOR: elas12

DIFFICULTY: [Simple]

POSITIVES: Thankfully you have created almost all of the objects yourself (bar the scientist). Good variation of vehicles to get to school with. Nice touch when you need to get you bag before leaving the house (although a visible grab switch needs hiding).

NEGATIVES: As previously mentioned there are holes in the level. A big no-no.

NITPICKS: The level is about going back to school, yet an arrow pointing to the scoreboard (school) says EXIT? The one just after the train station (see suggestions).

OVERALL RATING: | [Not Hearted]

SUGGESTIONS: Fixing the holes in the level would be top priority here. And as a side-quest fix, the exit sign would look better with SCHOOL instead of EXIT (well you are going to school).

NOTES: I can see that you have spent some time on this level, however there are a few things that need to be fixed.
