AUTHOR (PSN ID): mrsupercomputer
CATEGORY:Story/Boss
DIFFICULTY: [Easy] - [Medium]
DURATION: Approx. 15 minutes
LEVEL LOCATION: Algeria (Northwest of Africa)
PROS:
Its has an informative and well written level description that greatly helps set the mood and theme for this excellent level. As the title reads, basilisk bog means exactly the same thing as reptile swamp. Each word representing the other one respectively. It is a well written story that involves Basilisks (or reptiles) that have ransacked a village taking two of its dwellers hostage. You come across this same village and they ask for your unconditioned assistance for their comrades' safe return. Being a kind and charitable Sackboy/girl, you waste no time in beginning your pilgrimage of liberation. You traverse the immense and detailed swamp by overcoming clever obstacles that have been adapted nicely with the scenery. You eventually free one of the two villagers only to find out that the second one is in the Basilisk King's vicinity. As you try to reach the previously mentioned area, minions come at you from all directions attempting to stop you from reaching the Basilisk King and his hostage. If you are agile enough, you dodged all the hazards to meet up with the Basilisk King in a fight to the finish. Will you be able to rescue the remaining villager or will you be the one in need of some help when this boss battle takes place?
CONS:
Cannot think of any.
NITPICKS:
None
OVERALL RATING: 5/5

MUST PLAY!! [level hearted and author not hearted]

SUGGESTIONS:
Keep doing what you do.

Hello Calamaistr,
I see that coweycow has not posted the review for your level yet. I sent him a message this morning asking if he needs help due to that he was busy with other things. If I see that in a couple of more hours your review is not up I will then review it myself.

AUTHOR (PSN ID): Qugz
CATEGORY: Platformer
DIFFICULTY: [Easy]
DURATION: Approx. 10 minutes
LEVEL LOCATION: South Atlantic Ocean
PROS:
The icon/logo has nice contrasting colors and letters. It has an urban and funky design to it. The level description is brief, but not more than what is provided is really needed. The concept that the author implemented in this level is similar to the levels that play themselves. The difference is that the player is required to execute some actions once in a while. You could say that it is varied. The mechanics that get triggered are very well designed and conceptualized. They are no easy feat considering that the measurements taken are flawless for the functionality of the autogameplay. You get to control an interesting and particular vehicle that is then altered into a larger one. In my opinion, the level gets better towards the second half.
CONS:
The appearance of the level was not the main concern of the author when the level was created. It also comes to the point that the level (regardless of having innovative mechanics) feels slow. There are a lot of different cinematic objects and backgrounds that make the level look slightly unstable. The level is designed for one person. I believe that the author also noticed that there is one obstacle in particular that will be a bit tedious to conquer with several players at the same time.
NITPICKS:
- When the level loads, it is very silent with no music or sounds.
- You could get your Sackboy/girl accidentally hurt in some areas where you are not suppose to parish.
OVERALL RATING: 4/5

VERY GOOD! [level and author not hearted]
NOTES:
- I really wanted to take photos while the mechanics were in motion, but since I was in them the mechanics moved too much in order to get a descent one. The photos you see below are the ones I could take while in a stationary position.

SUGGESTIONS:
- Make the shifting platforms be made out of grabbable material so that players may hold on. Having them smooth as they are now promotes slippage and a possible death for Sackboy. It happened to me.
- Place more score bubbles. Since the player does not really do much throughout the level adding bubbles will make the player have something to look forward to.
- Add a couple of sound effects. The level has a lot of mechanics, but nothing to compliment their movements.
- Place different colored lights in the area where the vehicle is being "checked" and altered. This will make that section more visually pleasing.

Shindol Fun Fair Version 1.1
AUTHOR (PSN ID): shindol
CATEGORY: Other
DIFFICULTY: [Medium]
DURATION: Approx. 10 minutes
LOCATION: Mali (West Africa)
PROS:
This will be a slightly different type of review since the author has two different versions of the same level published. The one being reviewed right now is the one I considered to be the best out of the two. The other level was named 'Fun Fair'. It is noticeable that these were one of the first levels created by the author because he has others that are more elaborated. Both focus on providing the players with a fun day at the fair. You must go through an entrance and have your ticket at hand (popit
) in order to gain entry. Did you buy your ticket? Do not worry, it is provided by the author for free
There are a total of four main attractions that include "Test Your Strength", Ferris Wheel, House of Danger and Serpent River. All four give off the same vibe to the player. Their are acceptably entertaining and motivate you enough to proceed to the next. My favorite would have to be the "House of Danger". It was not called that way by the author, but is the closest thing to what I can remember to describe it at the same time. Each attraction required a different ticket; which is acquired by scavenging the ride previous to it. The background in this version is a large improvement from the original. The original had no background making it stale and pale. The one witnessed in this upgraded version helps make the level more enjoyable. The scoreboard also looks better.
CONS:
A couple of more things could be added to improve the visuals to even further the feeling that the level was a fair. The attractions were constructed alright, but I believe that their fun factor is not high enough. I also considered two of the four attractions to be a bit slow. With a bit of extra effort, the author can improve all these things by considering the suggestions.
NITPICKS:
- Having to wait for the vehicle with the lever in the 'House of Danger' was a bit boring. It can be easily fixed though.
- When you destroy the brain in the creature's mouth (and it was the remaining brain) you will have no option, but to fall in the deadly gas and lose a life. Thus getting points deducted.
OVERALL RATING: 3/5

Worth Playing! [level and author not hearted]
NOTE:
I actually had a couple of more suggestions, but they were meant for the first installment ('Fun Fair'). After seeing the newer version, I noticed that some of my suggestions were already implemented. I decided to provide a list of suggestions to further improve this version so that possible plays and hearts are focused directly to it.
SUGGESTIONS:
- Lower the 'Fun Fair' sign at the beginning because it cannot be read.
- Place a magic mouth at the beginning that tells players to turn "ON" the community prize option.
- Add popcorn and cotton candy karts.
- Label all the attractions. The only way one knows their names if through the level description. Add funky and fun looking signs just before each attraction. It will help the whole level look more like a fair and improve the visuals.
- In regards to the first attraction (Test You Strength/Hammer Swing), I would add a comical sound effect just as the hammer hits the target. I would also deploy lots of score bubbles in the players direction.
- Applause sound effects can also be activated at the first attraction just as the player hits the target.
- Having to wait for the vehicle with the lever on top of it in the third attraction makes it a tad boring. This can be fixed by placing a red push button and attaching its connector to the emitter that deploys the vehicle. Tweak the red button so that it is "One Shot". This will make a new vehicle be deployed instantly once the button is pushed. This eliminates the need to wait.
- If you add the previous suggestion make sure to edit the magic mouth so that it no longer say that you have to wait.
- Add sound effects to ghosts in the third attraction.
- Sackboy scary face stickers (the ones from the Monster Pack)can be glued on to the background of the third attraction to make it look more vivid.
- Make smoke come out of the tugboat in the Serpent River attraction.
- You can also add a "horn" sound affect to tugboat. It can be activated when the helm is grabbed.
- A 'Fun Fair' text or sticker can be glued to the tugboat's side. It will make it more genuine to the level.
- Try to use a tentacle for the serpent's limb. I believe that it is provided by the Monster Pack. Doing so will make the creature look better. The tentacle can be held up by rods or strings attached to dark materials placed above and out of sight. You could also add a small/non grabbable plane to fly over the tugboat at the end.
- Im not too sure if you want to make Fun Fair feel eerie or happy. This is because of the last soundtrack that one hears in the level. The one that is activated when fitting the Serpent. If you want to make it sound happy make a fun song be activated once the creature is destroyed.
- Balloons can be added to the scoreboard.

Hello Calamaistr,
In coweycow's defense, I was able to play part of your level due to the difficulty. I recommend that, in order for you to get both the review and the recording, that you adjust the difficulty drastically. For example, make the burning blocks not move so that they are at their highest placement. This is so that when we attempt to cross to the right we can achieve an optimal burn/jump to reach the following safe block. Keep adjusting everything so that both parties may provide you with what you want. I would not expect anything getting done from anyone with its current difficulty. You even mentioned that you cannot finish it now. I can review it to where I got too if you wish.
