Hidden Stickers (Hearted by LittleXim )

AUTHOR: GLiTcH2

CATEGORY: Informational

DIFFICULTY: [Simple]

DURATION: Approx. 1-3 min

PROS:

One of the cool things i like about any game is things we don't commonly know about. This level will not knock you off your socks, but what this level will do is show you somethings that were left out of MM sticker inventory. Along with showing you the stickers it will show you the location of those stickers and also tell you how you can add them to your inventory (vaguely).

CONS:

Rather bland. I'm not the know all of LBP so, i was alittle confused on how to add the stickers to my inventory. For people who are at my level in this game ( knowledge wise) maybe the author could have done a step by step of the process of saving the stickers.

NITPICKS:

  • unclear instructions on how to save the stickers. specially when the author went into details in showing the missing stickers, and their locations. ( for us newish to the game)
  • probably a design issue with the game, but if you manage to miss do a sticker, you have to restart the level in order to get it back.

NOTES:

This is not a typical level type.  mainly it's informational about missing stickers that MM uses in the original game, but they did not end up in the users inventory.  so i'm not basing my final score on all the criteria.

Originality 4/5 i'm not sure how many ingame easter egg level creations there are

Creativity 2.5/5

Sounds 0/5

Visuals 1/5

Design 2/5

Gameplay 1/5

Replay 0/5

OVERALL SCORE: 4/5  :smileywink: Recommended ( least for informational purpose show you the stickers MM forgot to give you. probably closer to a 3.5 but i rounded up.) [hearted]

SUGGESTION:

  • if you're going to take the time to show these odd stickers , and their locations, and tell use we can do it to.. show us how also.

LEAP OF FAITH 2 (OSP)

AUTHOR: i_r_me

DIFFICULTY: [Medium]

CATEGORY: Platformer

LOCATION: Southeastern Asia

POSITIVES: From the well-worded description, I could tell I was in for at least a decent level, and I got more than decent.  The point-luring fire trap at the beginning was well done, while still providing an escape route and not making the player feel hopeless, albeit only briefly.  I liked the overall element of surprise in this level; it kept me on my toes as a seemingly stable platform wasn't stable at all, as seemingly simple challenges morphed into something greater in the blink of an eye.  I liked the push of the platform at the end, leading to a jump onto the scoreboard.  I believe, overall, this is a more-than-decent level that I think definitely deserves more than the two stars and small amount of plays it has.  The level has solid gameplay and the player can easily tell that the creator put thought, time, and ideas into it.  Although it didn't quite earn my heart, if the negatives and nitpick are taken into account, considered, and possibly acted upon, I'll look the level over and decide again.

NEGATIVES:

-While I believe that hiding the entrance to the vertical stretch leading to the next segment of the level (near the beginning) was clever, it may be the source of why so many people do not complete the level/rate it lowly.  I suggest remedying this by making the entrance just a bit more noticeable, instead of the player having to find it by basic trial and error of jumping along the steps repeatedly.

-After going down the aforementioned vertical stretch, there's a round rubber enemy that is plain, boring, and bland.  Spice it up!  Put some style into the enemies.  Enemies are difficult to balance, between style/aesthetic and design and being fair to the player, but almost anything is better than just a simple electrified circle.

-At the fire obstacles "featuring" the enemy mentioned above, occasionally when I would hit the enemy it would launch me high enough for the fire to hit me, with no defense.  I'm not sure if this was an intentional challenge; if so, keep it.  If not, fix it; I suggest by lowering the platforms a bit.

-At the part with the rolling fire stone (which I enjoyed, by the way), there is a bit of unstickered dissolve attached to the zipline.  Sticker this dissolve, it is customary to do so except in very special occasions, and this isn't a very special occasion.

-While the visuals were decent--I especially liked the strange-but-oddly-nice material combination--you can do much better.  Put more stickers, decorations, custom stickers, little details, more varied shapes in.  Make it look interesting.

NITPICKS:

-In the very first obstacle, I dont understand why the middle/second stone doesn't have the gold-leaf metal covering the front of it in the thin layer; cover it to keep in style with the other platforms.

SUGGESTIONS:

-Fix, take into account, consider, or act upon the negatives and nitpick.

NOTES: None

One Piece vol 4: impel down

AUTHOR (PSN ID): Kazim-Kazim23 (battlefranky)

CATEGORY: Boss/Story/Platformer/Puzzler

DIFFICULTY: [Medium]

DURATION: Approx 8 minutes

LEVEL LOCATION: Southeast of North America

Promotional Post

PROS:

The author continues with his documentation of the famous anime series called One Piece. In part three, you learn of the whereabouts of your infamous brother. You are informed that he is to be executed. Since you have deep respect for your brother you are willing to do anything and everything to save him. This is volume four and entitled "impel down". This is the place where the Great Prison is located and where your brother is being held captive. There are six levels of dangerous criminals or hell as its referred to in the series. The author's ability to design, visual and create gameplay has incredibly improved. As time passes, this has becomes more evident. They were all noticeable just as the level started. The level description was better written. Lighting effects where also implemented and the outstandingly detailed characters carry on their quality. Im referring to both the main characters and even the enemies that are found within each level of the prison. All of which can be seen below in the photos. The logic switches have been heavily revised so that everything works properly. This is also the first level from this author that I see that he implemented so much variety in regards to the level's content. It has a story, platforming, puzzles and several boss battles. I really liked the fact that by freeing Buggy and Bon Clay they help the player defeat a boss later on. To top it all off, he added a race pole so that you must get through all the floors in a rushed manner to add a broader sense of adrenaline to the gameplay.

CONS:

Different from the previous levels I have reviewed from this author, I can only point out two aspects that he has to develop. The characters are undoubtedly detailed, but the environment and surrounding could be given a bit more of attention. Once these are accounted for, I see more great levels being brought to us by this author.

NITPICKS:

  • Motor bolts on signs are visible. The bolts I am referring to are the two attached to the signs at the end and the one attached to the sign at the beginning.
  • Motor bolts are also visible on one of the puzzles which involves the rotation of six pieces.

NOTES:

  • I played the level both in single layer mode and in multiplayer mode with gocubsgo2. There was only one area that functioned awkwardly, but we got around it. The section Im referring to is where the plank bridge is found.
  • The 'Kazim-Kazim23' username is not noticeable at the beginning. It is only really seen if either the magic mouth is read rather quickly or is exited (Pressing O).

Originality 3.5/5

Creativity 4/5

Sounds 3.5/5

Visuals 4/5

Design 4/5

Gameplay 3.5/5

Replay 3.5/5

OVERALL SCORE: 4/5  :smileyindifferent::smileytongue::smileywink::smileyhappy: Very Good!! [level and author not hearted]

SUGGESTIONS:

  • Tweak all the motor bolts so that they are not visible. This will help make the game look more polished.
  • Experiment with stickers and decorations so that the visuals can improve even more just like your other skills have.
  • Try to polish the visuals and the creativeness of your puzzles.
  • I would make the first two letters of the title 'Impel Down" capitalized so that the level looks more polished as well.
  • One thing that you should try to perfect are the skin colors. You make the head separate from the body and the difference in skin tones is noticeable. This can be easily fixed y taking a photo of the skin color you typically use. You then use this photo as your new skin color and the inconsistency should be fixed.

Re: ★ ★ The LittleBIGReview Group [Everything in One!] TEMPORARILY CLOSED ★ ★

Thank you gocubsgo2 for reviewing my level!

I shall take your negatives into consideration and let you know when i have an updated version of the level ready.

In response to a couple of them:

The place with the fire logs, and the enemies below - it is an intended challenge to have to kill the enemy and still not get killed by the flying logs.

And the nitpick, the intention was that since it did not touch the front-most layer, it wouldn't be covered by the metal. But there are times when I jump on it and think 'maybe i should cover this with the metal'. You've convinced me to :smileyhappy:

As for decoration, i've never been much of a sitcker user, I should really get on the ball with that. I've also had problems with my decorations notstaying around, when I publish my levels - is there a way to get around this?
